Size: shrub, 2' average height at maturity (5'spread)

Buds: very small, appressed, pubescent

Leaves: deciduous, alternate, .5" long, .25 side, elliptical, apex acute, stipular leaves present, gray-green above, silvery gray below, very pubescent

Twigs: slender, green to red-brown depending on sun exposure, very pubescent

Flowers: dioecious shrub, yellow anthered catkins in spring before leaves

Fruit: inconspicuous capsule
