Prunus cerasifera, Cherry Plum
Size: tree, 15-30' average height at maturity, 15-25' spread
Buds: terminal absent, small with imbricate scales, collaterals tend to be present, flower buds form clusters on spurs of older wood
Leaves: deciduous, alternate, 1.5-2.5" long, 1-1.25" wide, simple, ovate to elliptic, tips acute, margins finely serrate, light green, not much fall color
Twigs: brown, glabrous, slender, 2-year-old wood becomes a dull gray
Flowering: monoecious, solitary white flowers up to 1" across, very fragrant, bloom in April
Fruit: reddish 1" drupe emerges in late summer
