Leaves:  deciduous, alternate, 1-4" long, .5-2" wide, simple, ovate to oblong-ovate, acuminate tips, sharply serrate or doubly serate, shiny dark green

Twigs: weeping

Flowers: monoecious, single pink, .5" wide, bloom in March or April

Fruit: clusters of 2-5, red maturing to black, .33"

Bark: gray brown, horizontal lenticels
