Size: shrub, groundcover, vine, 1-3' average height at maturity

Leaves: evergreen, opposite, 1-3" long, simple, extremely variable, ovate, crenate-serrate margins, dark green or blue-green with silver veins in the species, cultivars vary endlessly

Twigs: trailing stems in most forms, few aerial rootlets if any

Flowers: monoecious, greenish white, .25" wide, in axillary cymes, bloom June-July

Fruit: capsule to .33", pinkish to reddish, orange seed inside, often persistent
