Leaves: deciduous, alternate, 1.5-4" long, 1-2" wide, simple, acuminate, very oblique at base, doubly serrate, elliptic to ovate or obovate, shiny dark green

Twigs: slender, reddish brown, glabrous or nearly so, lenticel conspicuous, raised leaf scars

Flowers: monoecious, dense clusters

Fruit: samara, roughly cirular, winged on all sides

Bark: ashy gray
