Size: tree, 12-15' average height at maturity

Leaves: deciduous, alternate, trifoliate, each leaflet 1-3" long, more or less elliptic, tips obtuse with abrupt sharp tip, rich green above, gray-green and silky pubescent below

Twigs: green or white pubescent, black leaf scars

Flowers: monoecious, lemon yellow to golden yellow, in cylindrical pendulous clusters up to 10", bloom in May

Fruit: pod, 2-3"

Bark: brown on older trunks
